This bulrush grows in both full sun and part shade in typically moist or wet soils, although it does occur in some mesic prairies. It has the distinguishing feature of nodding or drooping pedicels of the inflorescence. Many ducks and birds eat the seeds. A great plant for wetland restoration and shorelines.
