Pedicularis canadensisCommon Names: Lousewort, Wood Betony | Soil: Dry Dry-Mesic Mesic Wet-Mesic | |
Height: 10 in - 1.5 ft | ||
Blooming: Apr May Jun |
Hemi-parasitic with other species surrounding it (particularly grasses and sedges). It spreads slowly by rhizomes, but it does not do well in containers without a host. The flowers come in two color forms: yellowish or reddish. It blooms quite early and appears to be a significant early season nectar/pollen source. Any dry or to mesic restoration in full to partial to sun should include this species.
