No, this is not the invasive Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) which has invaded many of our wetlands. This pink flowered shrub with arching stems typically grows in the shallow waters of lakes, ponds, or slow-moving areas of rivers and streams. It also grows in other moist habitats and is not always emergent. It often occurs in colonies as the stem tips will root. In Michigan, it is more like a perennial forb as the stems typically die back each winter.
