Actaea rubraCommon Name: Red Baneberry | Soil: Mesic Wet-Mesic | |
Height: 1 ft - 2 ft | ||
Blooming: May |
Similar to Actaea pachypoda, but the berries are usually red. There is a white-berried form which is somewhat frequent. Although both species of Baneberries can be found growing in the same rich hardwood forests, A. rubra appears to tolerate a wider variety of forest and woodland types including conifers and even oak/hickory.
