Typically found in beech-maple forests in SW Michigan; prefers moderately rich to rich soils. An exceptionally beautiful early blooming sedge with semi-evergreen foliage. The previous season's leaves do not die back until the new leaves emerge. Excellent for mixing with spring ephemerals in a forest/woodland garden.
