Height: 8 in - 12 in | ||

A short, spreading groundcover for open, dry to partly shaded sites or rock gardens. The basal leaves are usually only 4 inches tall or less, while the flowering stems will rarely reach 12 inches. Host plant for American Painted Lady butterfly(Vanessa virginiensis). I am using the current taxonomy from Michigan Flora and the USDA PLANTS database, but A. parlinii is still often lumped with A. plantaginifolia in many books and web sites (Plants of the Chicago Region, for example).
