Rudbeckia fulgidaCommon Names: Orange Coneflower, Black-eyed Susan | Soil: Dry-Mesic Mesic Wet-Mesic Wet | |
Height: 2 ft - 3 ft | ||
Blooming: Jul Aug Sep |
A wildflower that is typical of wetlands, but is very adaptable. It will grow in almost all soils except those prone to summer drought, and it is actually a true perennial as compared to its short-lived sibling Rudbeckia hirta. The horticultural trade has created many cultivars and hybrids with other species from this plant. 'Goldstrum' is one widely available example. I see no reason to manipulate the beautiful foliage and flowers that nature has provided.
